MIDLAND—April 22, 2015 Kennedy Shea, a Beaverton, Michigan native is one of six Northwood University students selected to receive the 2015 Betsy and Dick DeVos Scholarship for Free Enterprise and Entrepreneurship. Shea, a Beaverton High School graduate, will be a freshman in the fall and will major in Advertising and Marketing at Northwood University.

Now in its fifth year, the Betsy and Dick DeVos Scholars for Free Enterprise and Entrepreneurship Scholarship Fund awards are renewed each year for the student’s four years at Northwood, as long as their academic standards are met. Applicants must submit an essay that demonstrates entrepreneurial activity and describe how their project fits with entrepreneurship, free enterprise and the meaning of the American Dream.

 Finalists are invited to campus to present to a panel of judges consisting of Northwood University faculty, staff, trustees and alumni. The panel’s recommendation for awardees is sent to Northwood University’s president and to Betsy and Dick DeVos for final approval.
