Training for managers and board members to sustain vibrant art institutions.
The DeVos Institute of Arts Management (DVIAM) at the University of Maryland provides training, consultation, and implementation support for arts managers and their boards. It operates on the premise that while many opportunities exist for artists to train, there are few training development options for managers and board members of art institutions.
Staffed and led by experienced arts managers, DVIAM understands that there is no time or resources to waste; therefore, DVIAM works with each client to create, market, and sustain exemplary cultural programs through its direct and practical services.
Having served over 1,000 organizations from over 80 different counties since its inception, DVIAM has assisted a wide range of institutions – traditional performing and presenting organizations, museums and galleries, arts schools and libraries, and botanical gardens, just to name a few – and continues to offer support to individuals, organizations, and, in collaboration with foundations and governments, to communities of organizations throughout the world.
