Kids Hope USA
Many children lack caring adults in their lives. Kids Hope USA taps the volunteer potential of the local church and connects a caring adult mentor with an elementary school child for at least one hour each week.
Since the late 1990’s Betsy and Dick DeVos and some of their adult children have served as mentors in this program. This experience has shown them the power of a caring adult in the life of a child. The work isn’t hard and it isn’t complicated; it entails sitting with a child for an hour each week, showing genuine interest, helping with homework, reading a book, playing catch, and just showing them that someone cares.
