About the Foundation
In response to the financial blessing we have received, our foundation was launched in 1989 to serve as a vehicle for our giving. Based on the model taught us by our parents, we seek to serve as faithful stewards.
About Dick and Betsy DeVos
Betsy and Dick have been married for over 30 years. They have four children, a daughter-in-law, a son-in-law and two granddaughters. Two are currently in full-time studies, and four are actively involved in business careers.
Dick DeVos is a graduate of Forest Hills Public Schools and Northwood University. He began working with Amway Corporation in 1974, holding positions in various divisions. In 1984, he became Vice President of Amway International where he led expansion into 18 countries.
In 1991, Dick became President and CEO of the Orlando Magic basketball franchise. He returned to Amway as its President in 1993 and led the company to record sales and profitability.
Dick co-chairs Grand Action which has been a leader in revitalizing downtown Grand Rapids. Additionally, he serves as a board member of RDV Corporation, Willow Creek Association, Spectrum Health System, Thunderbird School of Global Management, Regional Air Alliance of West Michigan and the West Michigan Aviation Academy. Dick is a two-time National Champion sailor, a qualified jet aircraft and helicopter pilot and a product of both the Harvard and Wharton Executive Study programs.
Betsy DeVos has been active in Republican politics since college. She was elected chairman of the Michigan Republican Party four times. Her political involvement has included numerous leadership roles with campaigns, party organizations, and political action committees.
Betsy, a graduate of Holland Christian High School and Calvin College, is also active in her community. She currently serves on a number of national and local boards including the DeVos Institute of Arts Management, American Federation for Children, Alliance for School Choice, ArtPrize, Mars Hill Bible Church, and Kids Hope USA.
Both Dick and Betsy DeVos are actively involved with The Windquest Group, a Michigan-based, privately held investment management firm with diversified projects in technology, manufacturing, clean-tech and nonprofit solutions.
