West Michigan Aviation Academy

A place where students are prepared to achieve their own career and life goals, and are empowered to soar to new heights.

Founded in 2010, Dick DeVos established the West Michigan Aviation Academy (WMAA) as a way to combine his passions for education and aviation. Located on the grounds of the Gerald R. Ford International Airport, this high school is about so much more than flying.

Students who have an interest in aviation or STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) are given hands-on opportunities to experience their passions in addition to the core subject curriculum, which includes English, world languages, social studies, and history.

Important character values such as respect, trust, and accountability are instilled in the students, and they are also taught the values of volunteer service and good citizenship. The extracurricular athletic and club activities help build community, develop leadership skills, and create positive experiences that students will build upon through graduation and beyond.

It is a place where students are prepared to achieve their own career and life goals, and are empowered to soar to new heights.
